Needle felting is something I’ve wanted to learn how to do since I first found out it was a thing. Needle felted figurines are just so adorable! So I bought myself a kit at Michaels and, like most things I want to start, it sat in a drawer for several months.
But I finally made time to start in on the kit. Today was just the kind of day where stabbing something with a needle for several hours sounded like a good way to de-stress.
I watched a bunch of YouTube videos in preparation because I had zero concept of how needle felting actually worked. Armed with my newfound knowledge, I busted open my fox kit and started with step one of the included directions.
I knew from the YouTube videos that patience is absolutely required and that needle felting takes time, but I underestimated how much time and patience it actually takes! All I made was the tail and the ears, and I worked for about 3 hours. Although, to be fair, I had several (what seemed like) hundred interruptions.
I stopped due to a combination of tiredness and soreness in my needling arm. But it was kind of magical to watch loose wool turn into solid pieces. I’m hoping I have some time this weekend to finish this little fox – I have legs, body/head, and details to finish. I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished product!
